coffee filter butterfly

Can you believe how fast the summer is flying by?  I shielded my eyes from the school supplies at Target yesterday!  If you would like to see the link from my tv appearance yesterday, here it is... http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/story/22842692/crafting-with-bugs-and-water-beads  What a fun experience it has been.
It's day 2 of bug week... today we are going to make coffee filter butterflies.  To make these I used glitter paint from Lakeshore learning... http://www.lakeshorelearning.com/product/productDet.jsp?productItemID=1%2C689%2C949%2C371%2C896%2C211&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181113&bmUID=1373657008067
Your kids will absolutely love this paint the colors and glitter are vibrant!
Paint half the coffee filter, and then fold it in half.

Magic!  It is the same on each side!

I layered each doily with a coffee filter and then slid it up the slit in the clothespin.

Last of all I added pipe cleaner clothespin to the back of each butterfly.

These butterflies were made with construction paper.  Fold the paper in half and cut out a butterfly.  Paint on half with the Lakeshore glitter paint.  Fold the paper in half...

add a construction paper body, googly eyes and pipe cleaner antennae.  Come back tomorrow for another fun bug project.
